I saw them sitting together in church once. And then again a few more times. I noticed that when he came in late, he would find her. Or if she came in late, she would find him. When it became more and more obvious, I thought, “oh, this is good…this is VERY good.”
I had met Mark years ago at a church we both belonged to in DC. And then we come to find ourselves at another church just outside of DC. Fun fact: Mark and I were born in the same hospital just a few months apart.
I had met Mel after she became a member of our church. I thought she was cool and fun and easy to talk to. I was right. 🙂 We hung out at a coffee shop close to her home and talked about life. She was then gracious enough to come with me to keep my then two year old daughter company while I had a dr. apt after I had my son. And she THEN was gracious enough to babysit for free for us once after my son was born. (Soap Box alert: I can’t tell you ENOUGH how free babysitters that come are such a HUUUUUGEEE blessing! If you’re single…even if you’re not, volunteer yourself to a married couple with kids! You have NO idea how much that couple needs to get out of the house together to have an adult conversation without kids interrupting…or even just to feel like they belong in society again….ok, Soap Box over.)
Mark + Mel are the sweetest, most thoughtful couple. They are constantly thinking of others and how to bless them. I loved being a part of their wedding day. I knew I was in good company when I got to the bride’s house for their getting ready photos and The Office was on TV. Yes. And then, they requested a Bridesmaids photo based on the DVD cover of Bridesmaids. Yes. We have similar sense of humors. So very important. 🙂
Their wedding day was perfect and easy and filled with so many sweet sweet family members and….. pies! Pies!!! They had a lovely pie reception just after the ceremony for those that couldn’t make it to the regular reception. You see, Mel is an epic pie baker and since Mel made Mark his very first pie, he’s been counting all the pies she’s made him ever since. 😀 The main reception was epic, of course. The dancing and the partying was on point. The family members were all sweet and loving and fully into celebrating with the couple.
Mel + Mark, thank you for choosing me as your photographer! I hope you guys are enjoying your first MARRIED month together!
